# The AI Discord server builder that stays to run it

Bond is an AI Discord bot that sets up and runs your server from plain English. It builds a server from one message: categories, channels, roles and who can see what. It shows the plan first and builds only what you approve. Then it stays, so the next change is one more message.

Recorded 2026-09-27 on a test server, build d0bec7a.

## One message in, a built server out

A real run, recorded on a test server. Nothing here is a mock-up.

In #admin-chat:

> **You:** @Bond Set up a study server: info category with rules and announcements only mods can post in, general and resources channels, a study voice room, and a private staff area.

The plan Bond showed first:

> **Study server layout**
> plan for @You
> 3 categories, 6 channels, and 1 Moderator role; existing server content stays untouched.
> ▼ INFO · 🔒 Everyone can read; Moderator can post
> rules *Rules (members read; Moderator posts)*
> announcements *Announcements (members read; Moderator posts)*
> ▼ STUDY · Open to everyone (default)
> general *General discussion*
> resources *Study resources*
> 🔊 study-room *Study voice room*
> ▼ STAFF · 🔒 Moderator and server admins only
> staff-chat *Private staff discussion*
> **Roles** · Moderator
> Everyone can view #rules and #announcements but cannot send messages; Moderator can view and send there.
> Only Moderator and server admins can view Staff and its channels.
> Keeps Existing categories, channels, roles, and messages remain unchanged.
> `#` grey planned · Expires in 10 minutes
>
> Buttons: Build it, Change something, Cancel. Pressed: Build it.

After the plan, Bond asked 9 more times, once for each step. The recording approved each one.

What Bond did:

- List channels
- List roles
- Ask questions
- Create category
- Bulk create channels
- Create role
- Set channel permissions
- Check channel access

> **Bond:** Study server setup is complete and access was verified.
>
> - Created **Info** with `#rules` and `#announcements`. Everyone can view them but cannot post; **Moderator** can post.
> - Created **Study** with `#general`, `#resources`, and the `study-room` voice channel, open to everyone.
> - Created **Staff** with `#staff-chat`, visible only to **Moderator** and server admins.
> - Created the **Moderator** role. It currently has no members; assign it to your moderators to give them the access above.
>
> The access check passed: unverified members can see Info, the study channels, and the two info channels, but not Staff or `#staff-chat`. Moderators can see all the new channels and can post in Info. Existing content was left unchanged.

The channel list afterwards:

- Info: #rules, #announcements
- Study: #general, #resources, study-room (voice)
- Staff: #staff-chat

Who can see and post where:

- Info (rules, announcements): Everyone reads, Moderator posts
- Study (general, resources, study-room): Open to everyone
- Staff (staff-chat): Private to Moderator

New role: Moderator.

Light tier · 1 message · 84 seconds · 90K tokens

Recorded on a Bond test server on the Light tier, the tier every free plan runs on. Server, channel and member IDs are placeholders, the test bot is shown as Bond, and the steps where Bond loads its own tools or pages through a long result are left out. The test server has no plan limits, so the plan limits a step reports are left out.

## A builder builds once. An agent stays

An AI server builder, maker or generator turns a description into a layout and applies it. Bond does that job, then keeps working in the same server.

| When | A one-shot builder | Bond |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Day one | Generates a layout from a form or a prompt and applies it. | Builds the layout you describe, after you approve the plan. |
| After day one | Its job is done. You edit by hand or generate again. | Adds a ticket panel or a role picker when you ask, tells you who can see a channel, and posts on a schedule. |
| A server with history | Read its docs first. A generator may clear channels and roles before it builds. | Builds beside what is there. A delete waits for your yes on the exact channel. |

A few builders also edit after the first build. The comparison names which. [AI Discord server builders compared, one by one](https://www.bondbot.gg/blog/best-ai-discord-server-builders-2026)

## What Bond builds, and the real limits

Every tool works on the free plan. Plans buy more tokens and more automations, not features.

- [Categories and channels](https://www.bondbot.gg/tools/channels) (text, voice, forum and stage): Up to 20 channels in one step.
- [Roles](https://www.bondbot.gg/tools/roles-permissions) (names, colours and permissions): Created below Bond's own role.
- [Private areas](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/set-up-a-server) (a staff category): A private category is private from the moment it exists.
- [Tickets, welcome, verification, role pickers](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/ticket-system) (installed as plugins): 5 plugins on a free server.
- [Custom slash commands](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/custom-slash-commands) (built and registered for you): 5 on a free server.
- [Automations](https://www.bondbot.gg/tools/automation) (on an event or a schedule): 3 flows at once on a free server, 1 of them repeating.
- [The build in the run](https://www.bondbot.gg/pricing) (one message, on the free tier): 90K of the 600K tokens a free account gets each week.

## It never asks for Administrator

- Specific permissions: Bond's invite asks for the Discord permissions its tools use and leaves Administrator out. Hide a channel from Bond's role and Bond stays out of it.
- Your permissions, checked each step: Bond only makes a change you could make yourself in Discord, with your permissions and at your role position.
- A delete asks by name: Building adds and changes. A delete waits for your yes on the exact channel, category or role.

Installing a plugin or an automation takes Administrator from you, the person asking, because it keeps acting after you leave. Bond's own invite never asks for it.

## Without a bot: a Discord server template

Discord can copy a layout into a new server for free. It is the fastest start when you already have a server laid out the way you want.

1. Open **Server Settings**, then **Server Template**, in the server you want to copy. You need Manage Server.
2. Give the template a title and press **Generate Template** to get a link.
3. Open the link and press **Create** to start a new server from it.

A template copies channels, roles, permissions and default settings. It does not copy messages, members or bots, and it only makes new servers. It cannot change one that already exists.

## Questions people ask

### What is an AI Discord server builder?

A tool that turns a description of a server into categories, channels, roles and permissions. Server maker and server generator are other names for the same thing. Most stop once the layout is applied. Bond builds the layout and then keeps managing the server when you ask.

### Is Bond free to use as a server builder?

Yes. Every tool works on the free plan, which gives 600K tokens a week. The recorded build on this page used 90K.

### Will it delete my existing channels?

No. Bond builds beside what the server already has. A delete only happens after you confirm the exact channel, category or role Bond names.

### Does Bond need Administrator?

No. Bond's invite leaves Administrator out, and each change is checked against your own Discord permissions and role position.

### How big a server can it build?

Bond creates up to 20 channels in one step. A bigger layout takes more steps under the plan you approved.

### Can Bond change the server after it is built?

Yes. Ask in the same channel: add a ticket panel, make a channel private, rename a category or post on a schedule. That is the difference between a builder and an agent.
