# Bond vs ProBot

ProBot puts welcome images, moderation, levelling and logs in one bot, and you configure each module on its dashboard. Bond has no module list. You say what you want in Discord and it builds that.

We build Bond. Every price, limit and setup step below about ProBot comes from its own public pages.

Checked 2 Oct 2026 on ProBot's own pages.

## Side by side.

| | ProBot | Bond |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Where you set it up | A web dashboard. You pick the server, switch a module on and fill it in. ([docs.probot.io/docs/modules/welcome](https://docs.probot.io/docs/modules/welcome)) | In Discord, in plain words. Bond lists each change and asks before it makes it. |
| Free | The pricing page names no free limits. It lists what the two paid tiers add. ([probot.io/pricing](https://probot.io/pricing)) | 600K tokens a week. Every tool works on it. |
| Paid | Tier 1 is $5 a month. Tier 2 is $10 a month and includes a custom bot. Yearly billing is $3.33 and $6.67 a month. ([probot.io/pricing](https://probot.io/pricing)) | From $7.99 a month, for a larger allowance and Ultra. |
| Invite | Asks for Administrator. 12 of 51 permissions. (invite link on probot.io) | No Administrator. 50 of 51 permissions. |

## What each invite asks for.

Read from each bot's public invite link. Administrator lets a bot pass every channel permission you set, so it is marked on its own.

### ProBot

Asks for Administrator. 12 of 51 permissions: Create Invite, Kick Members, Ban Members, Administrator, Manage Channels, Manage Server, View Audit Log, Change Nickname, Manage Nicknames, Manage Roles, Manage Webhooks, Manage Expressions. (invite link on probot.io)

### Bond

No Administrator. 50 of 51 permissions: Create Invite, Kick Members, Ban Members, Manage Channels, Manage Server, Add Reactions, View Audit Log, Priority Speaker, Video, View Channels, Send Messages, Send TTS Messages, Manage Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Read Message History, Mention Everyone, Use External Emojis, View Server Insights, Connect, Speak, Mute Members, Deafen Members, Move Members, Use Voice Activity, Change Nickname, Manage Nicknames, Manage Roles, Manage Webhooks, Manage Expressions, Use Application Commands, Request to Speak, Manage Events, Manage Threads, Create Public Threads, Create Private Threads, Use External Stickers, Send Messages in Threads, Use Activities, Timeout Members, View Monetization Analytics, Use Soundboard, Create Expressions, Create Events, Use External Sounds, Send Voice Messages, Send Polls, Use External Apps, Pin Messages, Bypass Slowmode.

Bond's invite is wide because its tools cover channels, roles, moderation, events and voice. It leaves out Administrator, so a channel that denies Bond's role still blocks it.

## Setup, step by step.

ProBot's steps are the ones in its own docs.

### ProBot

1. Invite ProBot and authorize it for your server.
2. Grant the permissions it asks for.
3. Drag ProBot's role to the top of the role list, so the dashboard can show your roles.

### Bond

1. Add Bond to your server.
2. Mention @Bond and say what you want.
3. Approve the changes it lists.

## The same kind of job, run by Bond.

Bond is not a fixed set of modules. It picks from its whole tool set for each request, across channels, roles, moderation, automation, events and voice, and it asks before it changes anything. Bond's invite leaves out Administrator. ProBot's asks for it.

"@Bond Welcome new members in #welcome with their name, a welcome card, and a link to #rules."

In #welcome, afterwards:

> Welcome to Test Server, @New Member! Please read the rules: #rules

Recorded 2026-09-28 on a test server · Light tier · 1 message · 23 seconds · 101K tokens

Recorded on a Bond test server on the Light tier, the tier every free plan runs on. Server, channel and member IDs are placeholders, the test bot is shown as Bond, and the steps where Bond loads its own tools or pages through a long result are left out. The test server has no plan limits, so the plan limits a step reports are left out. The Always allow line on each approval card is reworded in plain words.

Recorded on version 8 of the Welcome plugin, which is now on version 9. Version 9 changes what happens when many people join at once. A join that comes right after another is no longer skipped, and when Bond falls behind, a member still gets their starting role while a greeting that would arrive more than two minutes late is left out. The setup and the greeting shown above are unchanged.

## Where ProBot goes further.

Ready-made features Bond has no packaged version of. Some Bond can build as an automation. Some it cannot do at all.

- Ready-made modules for levelling, starboard, temporary channels and colors. ([docs.probot.io/docs/modules/welcome](https://docs.probot.io/docs/modules/welcome))
- Anti-Raid and VIP Protection modules. ([docs.probot.io/docs/modules/welcome](https://docs.probot.io/docs/modules/welcome))
- A custom bot of your own on Tier 2. ([probot.io/pricing](https://probot.io/pricing))
- Docs in ten languages. ([docs.probot.io](https://docs.probot.io))

## And if you do switch, in three moves.

Both bots can run at once. There is no import step and nothing to migrate.

### 1. Add Bond alongside

ProBot keeps doing exactly what it does today. Bond joins without touching a single existing setting.

### 2. Move one thing across

Pick the part you like least. Describe what it does to Bond, approve the changes, and watch it run for a week.

### 3. Turn the old one off

Only once the new one has run. Repeat for the next part, or stop here and keep both.

## When to stay on ProBot.

Stick with ProBot if you like a dashboard with a switch for each module, and levelling that works the minute you turn it on.

- You like setting things on a dashboard, one module at a time, and seeing every option on a page.
- You want levelling or a starboard that works the minute you switch it on.
- You want an Anti-Raid module you can switch on before a raid, not rules you describe.
- Your team reads the docs in Arabic, Turkish or another of ProBot's languages.

It is good at welcome images, moderation and levelling in one bot, and there is no prize for switching a tool you are happy with. Add Bond for the jobs ProBot does not cover, and leave the rest where it is.
