# Moderate your server with plain English rules

Timeouts, bans and cleanup driven by rules you describe in words, with every action checked against your real Discord permissions.

Categories: Moderation, Members, Server settings.

## The request

"@Bond Time out anyone posting invite links for an hour and log it in #mod-log"

## What Bond does after the first message

- Kick a member out of the Discord server. (`kick_member`)
- Ban a user from the Discord server until they are unbanned, optionally deleting up to 7 days of their recent messages. (`ban_member`)
- Lift a ban so the person can rejoin with an invite. (`unban_member`)
- Time a member out, Discord's built-in mute: no messages, reactions or voice until it expires, which it does on its own. (`timeout_member`)
- Lift a member's active timeout early, so they can send messages, react and join voice again immediately. (`remove_timeout`)
- List the Discord server's bans, each with the banned user's ID, username and ban reason. (`list_bans`)
- List members in the Discord server, filtered by roles, by a username/display-name search, or not at all. (`list_members`)
- Set or remove a member's server nickname, which overrides their global display name here. (`set_nickname`)
- Get one member's profile: display name, avatar, roles, join and account-creation dates, timeout state, boost status, key permissions and whether Bond can moderate them. (`get_member_info`)
- Check one member's effective permissions in one channel, after role and member overwrites, the way Discord itself computes them. (`check_member_permissions`)
- Let one member skip the server's verification requirements, or take that exception away again. (`set_member_flags`)
- Remove members who have been inactive for a number of days. (`prune_members`)
- Get detailed information about the server: branding, membership, channels, features and every editable setting. (`get_server_info`)
- Get the current date and time in any timezone. (`get_current_time`)
- Edit the Discord server's branding, channels, notification defaults, content filter, locale, and boost progress bar. (`edit_server`)
- Fetch recent audit log entries - kicks, bans, channel and role changes, other administrative actions - newest first. (`get_audit_log`)
- Set the Discord server's verification level, which gates what a member must satisfy before they can send messages. (`set_verification_level`)
- Enable or pause every server invite at once; while paused no new member can join through any invite link. (`toggle_invites`)

## More in moderation and cleanup

- [Configure AutoMod rules](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/automod): Set up Discord's native AutoMod by describing the rule you want: blocked words, invite links, spam and mention floods.
- [Bulk delete and clean up messages](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/bulk-delete-messages): Clear spam, prune old posts and tidy channels in bulk, without clicking through messages one at a time.
- [Auto-delete messages in a channel](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/auto-delete-messages): Keep a bot-commands or memes channel from growing forever by clearing it out on a schedule.
- [Set slowmode on a channel](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/slowmode): Slow a channel down when it gets busy, on one channel or several at once, and lift it again when things calm down.
- [Log moderation actions to a channel](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/mod-log): Keep a record of bans, unbans, role changes and channel edits in a staff channel, so nobody has to scroll the audit log.
