# Post server rules and gate access behind them

Rules posted and pinned in their own channel, with the rest of the server unlocked only once someone agrees to them.

Categories: Messages, Automations & flows, Roles & permissions.

## The request

"@Bond Post these rules in #rules, pin them, and keep everything else hidden until a member agrees to them and gets the Member role"

## What Bond does after the first message

- Send a message to a channel or thread, optionally with components (buttons, select menus, modals) that make it an interactive panel members click. (`send_message`)
- Edit a message the bot already sent: its text, embeds, attachments or interactive components. (`edit_message`)
- Toggle whether Discord displays embeds and link previews on an existing message. (`suppress_message_embeds`)
- Forward an existing Discord message into another text-based channel. (`forward_message`)
- Delete one message from a Discord channel, given the channel and message ID. (`delete_message`)
- Delete many messages at once from a Discord channel (purge), far faster than one at a time. (`bulk_delete_messages`)
- Create an automation that runs on an event or a schedule, saved only after a dry run passes. (`create_flow`)
- Update an existing automation flow: replace its code, or change its description or enabled state. (`update_flow`)
- List every automation in this server with its trigger, status, summary and how its last run went. (`list_flows`)
- Get one automation in full: what it does, what it is allowed to touch, and how its last few runs went. (`get_flow`)
- Delete an automation flow from this Discord server permanently; it stops running immediately and there is no undo. (`delete_flow`)
- Enable or disable an automation flow, keeping its configuration. (`toggle_flow`)
- List all roles in the Discord server, sorted by position (highest position = most authority). (`list_roles`)
- Look up one role by ID or exact name, even one above Bond's own roles, and whether Bond can manage it. (`get_role`)
- Create a role with permissions, display settings, icon or Unicode emoji, and a solid, gradient or holographic color. (`create_role`)
- Delete a role from the Discord server, removing it from every member who has it. (`delete_role`)
- Assign one role to one member, identified by ID or by name. (`assign_role`)
- Remove one role from one member, identified by ID or by name. (`remove_role`)

## More in onboarding and membership

- [Auto-assign roles when someone joins](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/auto-assign-roles-on-join): Give every new member a role when they join, after Rules Screening if you use it, with a greeting in the channel you choose.
- [Send welcome messages to new members](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/welcome-messages): Greet new members by name in the channel you choose, with a welcome card and the wording you want. You describe it once, in plain English.
- [Set up member verification](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/verification-system): New members only see your verify and rules channels until they press Verify, which gives them the Verified role and the rest of the server.
- [Post a message when someone leaves](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/goodbye-messages): Say something when a member leaves, or just keep a quiet record of it in a staff channel.
- [Add or remove a role from everyone](https://www.bondbot.gg/use-cases/mass-assign-roles): Give a role to a whole group, or strip one back out, instead of opening the member list and doing it one person at a time.
